INTRODUCTION

Asoprodigital and 300FILMS invite you to participate in the  CONTRIBUTION CAMPAING to make a documentary about SILO, in order to premiere in theaters.
We have already covered the services and expenses for production, right now we need U$S 5.000 dollars to cover the remaining costs.
With your support, youbparticipate as associate producer and get merchandising of the film (DVD's, T-shirts, mugs and posters).

CAN WE MAKE A FILM WITH U$S 5.000?

Of course not! The film does not have subsidies or conventional producers funding, but has the support of technical crew and professional equipment from Asoprodigital and 300Films, that are working as part of a cooperative effort.
The need to raise money is to support travel, catering, rental equipment and some post-production costs in After Effects.
We are driven by the project and most of the services we got by trade, loan and support from nice people.

THIS IS GOING TO BE RELEASED IN CINEMAS?

Yes, will premiere in public theaters as Gaumont, Bauen and other theaters in Buenos Aires and all over the country.
Among the options is also the Malba (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires).

THE PROJECT

SILO is a feature documentary project proposed to investigate the figure of the writer and philosopher from Mendoza (Argentina) Mario Luis Rodriguez Cobos (1938 - 2010), known for the pseudonym Silo.
His life has been marked by the open teaching of humanism and the creation of a social, political and spiritual movement without frontiers that, from the mountain of Mendoza to the rest of the world, has transcended geography and time.

The main reasons that drive us to make this project are:
- Silo is still, until today, an unknown character for the majority of argentines,  he has been the generator of transcendent facts as the World March for Peace and Non-violence (2009-2010).
- He knew how to combine thought and action.
- His first public appearances, in the late 60s and the early 70s, were marked by persecutions, imprisonments and successive defamatory media campaigns (accusing him of being the leader of a sect).
- His message and work have transcended frontiers, reaching great repercussion in Europe, Russia and India.
- To date, there are many siloist parks of study and reflection, scattered around the world.

Leaving aside the mystic and legendary aura that involves his figure, we propose a full approach to Silo, discovering the human being, the philosopher, the spiritual guide, the revolutionary.
We are aware, besides, that the ideas and proposals of Silo (political, social and spiritual) have a significant validity in these times, marked by the lack of references, a global system that falters and the need to open ourselves to a new human awareness.
To sum up, this feature project addresses people that have never heard about Silo, to give information and to open the debate about his life and work.

PROPOSAL FOR FILM AESTHETICS

The documentary SILO is based on an extensive archive of photographic material and press clippings, as well as lots of original videos and audios in which informal talks , lectures , tours and television interviews are conducted in Buenos Aires , Bombay , Mexico D.F. and Moscow.
Interviews will be recorded with a select group of people who have had personal and professional acquaintance with Silo from his beginnings in the mid-60s, through their experiences in the distant Canary Islands, Corfú, India and Russia.
The locations selected for interviews are the parks of study and reflection located In Punta de Vacas (Mendoza) and La Reja (Buenos Aires); extensive sites, featuring fountains, meditation rooms of Hindu construction, monoliths and study centers. It also includes meeting rooms located in the City of Buenos Aires and suburbs.

The premise of camera will consist of close-ups of the interviewee located to the left of the picture, leaving the right-hand side that , through chrome-key techniques, will fill the image with photo montages or video file referred to
the subject.
Regarding photography, two aesthetics will be handled.
In Chapters 1 and 2 (1962 - 1980) neutral colors using materials from black and white file (photos, videos, press) will be applied ; editing filters will also be used to simulate the Super-8 texture.
Chapters 3 and 4 (1980 - 2010) present more vivid and contrasting colors, using the colorful Siloist parades and demonstrations.
Powerful music will be used with different styles for each chapter: native cuyano rhythms for Chapter 1 (genesis of the character in Mendoza) ; enveloping and tense rhythms for Chapter 2 (persecutions), energetic rhythms for Chapter 3 (world travels, international conferences) and soft and warm rhythms for Chapter 4 (last years, death and recognition from his peers).
In turn, there will be a precise post production design, using the heavy footage and animations using Flash and After Effects, and other stylistic devices, to establish a storyline that allows a comprehensive approach to the various facets of Silo's life and work, and that conveys his message and historical transcendence to the public, in a constructive and social ambit.
