The
documentary SILO is based on an extensive archive of photographic material and
press clippings, as well as lots of original videos and audios in which
informal talks , lectures , tours and television interviews are conducted in
Buenos Aires , Bombay , Mexico D.F. and Moscow.
Interviews
will be recorded with a select group of people who have had personal and
professional acquaintance with Silo from his beginnings in the mid-60s, through
their experiences in the distant Canary Islands, Corfú, India and Russia.
The
locations selected for interviews are the parks of study and reflection located
In Punta de Vacas (Mendoza) and La Reja (Buenos Aires); extensive sites,
featuring fountains, meditation rooms of Hindu construction, monoliths and
study centers. It also includes meeting rooms located in the City of Buenos
Aires and suburbs.
The
premise of camera will consist of close-ups of the interviewee located to the
left of the picture, leaving the right-hand side that , through chrome-key
techniques, will fill the image with photo montages or video file referred to
the
subject.
Regarding
photography, two aesthetics will be handled.
In
Chapters 1 and 2 (1962 - 1980) neutral colors using materials from black and
white file (photos, videos, press) will be applied ; editing filters will also
be used to simulate the Super-8 texture.
Chapters
3 and 4 (1980 - 2010) present more vivid and contrasting colors, using the
colorful Siloist parades and demonstrations.
Powerful
music will be used with different styles for each chapter: native cuyano
rhythms for Chapter 1 (genesis of the character in Mendoza) ; enveloping and
tense rhythms for Chapter 2 (persecutions), energetic rhythms for Chapter 3
(world travels, international conferences) and soft and warm rhythms for Chapter
4 (last years, death and recognition from his peers).
In
turn, there will be a precise post production design, using the heavy footage
and animations using Flash and After Effects, and other stylistic devices, to
establish a storyline that allows a comprehensive approach to the various
facets of Silo's life and work, and that conveys his message and historical
transcendence to the public, in a constructive and social ambit.
